Germany - Studenten Cafe Cocktail Party
On Wednesday night, all the international students were invited to the Studentencafe. It was AAA night - Akademisches Auslandsamt, which translates to something like "Academic international office." We can all blame Allyn for getting there early before it started. This seems to be our best opportunity to meet people that don't go to Kettering. I spent much of my time talking with two of our tutors, Elli and and Simone. Allyn and I can thank Elli for driving us home; we stayed later than the buses run. The cafe is inside an old fort, which gives it a very unique appearance. While it looks huge on the outside, the inside is quite cozy. Simone took some pictures of us at the party and posted them on her website. The Studentencafe also posts pictures on its website, but I'm not in any of them. It's interesting how alcohol is treated differently by German culture in contrast to American culture: the Fachhochschule gave us coupons for free cocktails! I can't imagine that happening at an American university. .
